Closing the Gender Pay Gap – Why Equality is Good for Everyone

Introduction Despite decades of emancipation and legislation, women in Europe still earn an average of 13% less per hour than their male colleagues. At GirlPower Foundation, we believe this is not just a “women’s issue,” but a societal problem that stifles our economic growth.

The Invisible Barriers The pay gap is not caused by direct discrimination alone, but by a cumulative set of factors. Women more frequently enter lower-paying sectors, take on a larger share of unpaid caregiving duties, and hit the “glass ceiling” just as they approach the top of the corporate ladder.

Our Commitment We advocate for:

  • Pay Transparency: Companies must provide openness regarding their salary structures.
  • Quotas at the Top: A balanced gender distribution in boardrooms fosters a fairer corporate culture.
  • Reimagining Care: A better distribution of parental leave helps women maintain their career paths.

Conclusion Equal pay is not a favor; it is a fundamental right. When we pay women fairly, we invest in a stronger economy for everyone. Closing the gap is not just about numbers; it is about valuing contribution, expertise, and leadership across the board. At GirlPower Foundation, we won’t stop until the paycheck reflects the person’s worth, not their gender.
